José Miguel has focused his practice on advising regulated entities in the financial market, including banks, stockbrokers, securitization companies and fund managers.

He also specializes in administrative law matters associated with the securities market, asset laundering prevention and other regulatory matters.

He is member of the board of directors of the National Arbitration Center and a member of the Chilean Bar Association and the International Bar Association. He also served on the Finance Ministry’s Consultation Council on Capital Markets during the presidential mandate of Mr. Sebastián Piñera, and as a commissioner for the National Accreditation Commission between 2013 and 2014.

José Miguel has participated in several working groups organized by the Chilean Financial Market Commission to draft regulations on corporate governance for publicly traded corporations. He has also assisted the Banks Superintendence of Guatemala in securitization and derivatives matters.
